New users are constantly joining the wiki, creating accounts, and beginning what we hope to be long and fulfilling terms as editors. The world of wikis can be a harrowing, confusing place for someone who has never contributed before, and having someone show them their first steps can be a lifesaver.

The Welcoming Committee is a group of editors who take it upon themselves to steer these up-and-coming contributors in the right direction. Joining the Committee is easy; simply add your username to the list at the end of the page. If you wish you can also copy/paste the userbox code into your userspace to show others that you're a member of the Welcoming Committee. The task of the members of the Welcoming Committee is to welcome new users by adding {{subst:Welcome Notice}} ~~~~ to their talk pages. This automatically adds the welcome template to their page, as well as your name and the date.

Note: We ask that you please use the subst: function, as this makes the welcome more personal to the new user.

Welcome To The Wiki!

Hello,Kidvskat:Welcoming Committee, and welcome to the Kid Vs Kat Wiki!

Thank you for taking an interest in our wiki. If you have any trouble or need help, feel free to ask questions on any editor's talk page. Also, you could look at a help page or you could shout out on the local forums. We hope you like it here and decide to stay!

Here are a few pages to help out new editors such as yourself:

Please sign your name on talk pages by using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (button_sig.png) above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date. Signing your comments is important, as it lets other editors know who has posted which comments.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything!

Again, welcome! 25px-Sysop_crown.png Parsonsda Talk | Sign Here

If you wish, you can also create your own welcome template to use to welcome others; use of this template is only suggested, not mandatory. However, please use the {{subst: function if you choose to do so.
