He doesn't try to stop it until Coop mentions to Dennis that crossing paths with a black cat is bad luck, at which point Kat hisses and raises his talons towards it, scaring it away.
The cat's eyes have dark green pupils. It's gender is Unknown.
The cat reappears and Dennis informs Coop he's preventing Kat from firing in his robotic suit and they used him for as their advantages along with the ladder. Black Cat makes the suit explodes turning Kat black fully.
